Curriculum

Jonah Special School recognises that a neurodiversity affirming approach is vital in our school. A Universal Design for Learning framework is incorporated into every element of the teaching and learning of our students. We strive to provide a high standard of teaching and learning within a positive and enriching learning environment. Each child will have an Individual Education Plan which will be specific to their needs. Our school utilises the Primary Curriculum guidelines for teachers, Junior Cycle Level 1 & Level 2 when planning for your child’s academic goals. We also use Aistear in the Junior class as appropriate.

Our curriculum is presented in five areas, some of which are further subdivided into subjects. These are:

  • Language
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education
  • Wellbeing
  • Arts Education
  • Social and Environmental Education
